iQFoil – The Olympics 2024 and beyond…

– Starboardare extremely proud and excited to share with all of you the news that the Starboard iQFoil has been selected as the 2024 Olympic Equipment, replacing the RS:X equipment after the 2020 Olympic Games.The iQFoil concept is the fruit of many years of windsurf foiling equipment development, but developing the equipment to running a successful Olympic Campaign are two very different stories. The story of their iQFoil proposal has, above all, been one of great teamwork with a common goal of making the future of windsurfing more exciting and sustainable for the generations to come. –

Fin or foil, from 5 knots to 35 knots, the iQFOiL Youth package delivers the ultimate in windsurfing racing performance with just one board, one foil, one fin, one sail.
The iQFOiL Youth package includes a Starboard iQFOiL 85 Starlite Carbon board, the Severne HyperGlide Olympic rig in 8.0 (with the GO Boom 186-236) and the iQFOiL Aluminium foil by Starboard Foils.

THE BOARD:

Dimensions: 210x85cm. 153 liters
The new 85cm wide iQFOiL board, is the one-design board for Junior U15, Junior U17 and Youth U19. One board for three generations of windsurfers.

Smaller and more controllable for younger sailors. This new size shares the same racing genes as the iQFOiL 95.

Additional footstrap positions and reduced rail cutaway sizes improve performance in fin mode.
The iQFOiL 85 is constructed in Starboards new Starlite Carbon technology for the highest performance at a lower price point.

TECHNOLOGY : STARLITE CARBON – Best Value Offering

The iQFOiL 85 is available in Starlite Carbon construction. 0.6mm Australian pine wood sandwich wrapped with Military grade-glass and a full carbon bottom. A high-quality value package with an excellent finish. The Starlite Carbon construction feels especially crisp and has extra high impact resistance.

Each board is made 100x Climate net positive through the Mangroves planted in Thor Heyerdahl Climate Park. Our own Starboard Plastic Offset Program picks up 1.4 kg of ocean plastic per board sold. Strict environmental event guidelines and support will sit alongside World Sailings sustainability program.

• iQFoil 95 Carbon Mast –

The carbon mast is an extra-stiff version of the standard 95cm Carbon mast, built with 44 layers of ultra-high modulus pre-preg carbon fibre: for more performance, more control and a wider wind range.

• Tail Wing Adjustment –

iQFoil sets are supplied with six angle spacers (-2 degree/ -1.5 degree/ -1 degree/ -0.5 degree/ 0 degree/ +1 degree) and with a new 255 tail wing that has -2 degree built in.

The recommended tail wing angle on the 115 Plus and 95 Plus is -2 degree, so we recommend starting with the 0degree spacer. You can reduce tail wing angle up to 2 more degrees by using the -2 degree spacer, for more speed and control, or increase by up to 1 degree by using the +1 degree spacer, for more power.

• Fuselages: 115cm

The iQFoil sets are supplied with both the 115 Plus fuselage. The 115 Plus is recommended for extra power and for maximum upwind/ downwind performance.

THE SAIL:

Severne Hyperglide Olympic 8.0/ 7.2 –

Designed to feel light in the hands, responsive and with anexpanded wind range, the Olympic edition of theHyperGlide works with foil and fin.

• U19 Youth Women and Senior Women – To compete on the all new HGO 7.3m sail for 2025 onwards, which rigs on the same components as the existing HGO V2 8.0m.

THE MAST:

Severne Apex 490–

The APEX mast has an added fibreglass outer layer which makes it less susceptible to impact damage.
The Apex taper has smaller diameter mid-sections with increased wall thickness for increased reliability.

THE BOOM:

SeverneGO Boom– Youth

186-236.

The Severne Apex mast comes with SlipLok technology.Alternating texture patterns in the boom area increases friction for less slippage.This eliminates the need to overtighten the boom, decreasing stresses on the mast.

Using the Severne boom with theLockjawfront end, you only need to apply minimum force for it to sit perfectly on the mast without sliding.

You should not apply more than 10-15kg of pressure on the end of the lever for it to close. This can be done with two fingers.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
Overtightening the boom head can cause damage to your mast.

THE EXTENSION:

SDM Extension 36 – Men, Women and Youth

Solid Aluminium tubes combined with triple pulleys for friction free high tension downhauling. Dyneema rope.

THE BASE:

Severne Mast Base – Men, Women and Youth

Ergonomically shaped for easy tightening and un-tightening with a low profile, reducing the gap between the board and sail.
